Daniel Unlocked #75

I am not a prophet, neither am I the son of a prophet, but I have been a student of prophecy for over 50 years. I have prayed and thought about what we are about to look at, feeling the need to put these three scriptures (prophecies) together.

A word of caution: I have never sought to interpret prophecy using current world events, and I am not going to do that now. But Jesus said, “Watch and be ready.” (Matt 24: 42- 25: 13). Jesus also said, concerning prophecy that, “I tell you these things so that when you see them come to pass you will know.” (Mark 13: 29. and John 13:19.) I do sense however, that something big is looming.

Daniel 11 ranges over history like a cosmic news bulletin. It also teaches that God is ever present to blow the whistle on our nasty contests and conflicts.

Daniel 11 is detailed and intricate, so I suggest you read the following verse by verse commentary from the link below. Over the next week or so I will make further comment.

Regarding the timing of the second coming of the Son of man, Jesus Himself said: “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, but My Father only.” Matthew 24: 36.  But He also tells us that we should not be taken by surprise: “So you also, when you see all these things, know that it is near—at the doors!” Matthew 24:33.  That’s the main reason the Bible gives an extensive rundown of signs in the world that will indicate that Christ’s second coming is near.  Daniel 11 simply adds to that list of signs, while confirming our faith and belief with 126 fulfilled prophecies in that one chapter.  God has given us prophecies to strengthen our faith.  “And so we have the prophetic word confirmed, which you do well to heed as a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts;” 2 Peter 1:19.

“But concerning the times and the seasons, brethren, you have no need that I should write to you.  For you yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so comes as a thief in the night. For when they say, “Peace and safety!” then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape. But you, brethren, are not in darkness, so that this Day should overtake you as a thief. You are all sons of light and sons of the day. We are not of the night nor of darkness.” 1 Thessalonians 5:1-5.

We don’t need a doomsday clock!  We have the “more sure word of prophecy” 2 Peter 1:19. God never acts before He has given plenty of warning.  There is no good reason why anyone should be unprepared for the second coming of Jesus.  Daniel 11 brings us right to the threshold of the second coming.  Daniel 12 ushers in the return of the Son of man. “And at that time your people shall be delivered, everyone who is found written in the book. And many of those who sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, some to shame and everlasting contempt.”  Daniel 12:1,2.
